Jerome Baker Is The Man

The Jerome Baker in store event was great!  We truly appreciate Mr. Jason Harris for stopping by the store and spending time with everyone.  In town for Widespread Panic at Red Rocks, he took time out of his trip to make an appearance at Myxed Up Creations Denver location.  He got to meet a lot of fans, shake a lot of hands, and sign or engrave a number of pieces and posters.  Not only is Jerome Baker possibly the biggest name in, the somewhat brief history, of the functional glass as art movement.  He's also a great guy in general.  It was awesome watching his interaction with fans, telling stories about all his adventures in his life of blowing glass.  The man has been just about everywhere, and blown glass in the craziest of places.  From traveling around following the Grateful Dead and blowing glass on tour, to blowing glass with other legends in the industry, like Bob Snodgrass, when the movement was really first underway.  He's been flown all over the country and blown glass out of hotels, and he's been commissioned to create pieces for some of the biggest names in movies, music, and art.  Sure enough, his stories lived up to the billing of being one of the most recognized names in glass blowing.

We had the opportunity to talk to him about some of his other projects that he was a part of, or continues to be a part of.  He spoke with us about many endeavors like his Connoisseur Kulture (CK) Expo, an exclusive industry expo highlighting underground pop culture and products.  As well as a line of reusable art inspired water bottles, Binger Springs.  And not to mention Jerome Baker Decks, a skateboard deck, clothing and gear company that saw very mixed results.  Never the less, it goes with out saying, he keeps himself pretty busy, and very involved with the important happenings and people in the the industry.

Finally, with much anticipation, 4:20 rolled around, and it was time to do the drawing for the engraved JBD Scientific rigs!

Congratulations to the winners!  Thanks again to Jason Harris AKA Jerome Baker!  And a big thanks to everyone that came down to enjoy this unique opportunity to meet a true legend in the game!
